Hemp is on newsstands, but “four months late”

CBD and THC have one thing in common: they originate from the hemp plant. Both are therefore cannabinoids, that is to say active chemical substances which act on the body’s receptors (nerve system, organs, immune system, etc.). But they are likewise opposed on numerous points. Since, unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD) does not make “stone” and does not represent any health hazard. Comprehensive review.

CBD and THC: what distinctions?

Marijuana is a complex product, comprised of a number of hundred particles – the “cannabinoids” – all with their particular residential or commercial properties The most well-known is THC, for tetrahydrocannabinol, the active substance understood for its psychotropic results. THC is what assists alter the consumer’s state of awareness, making them “high” or, as they say, making them “hover”. In other words, when we talk about recreational marijuana use, it is generally a product rich in THC that we refer to.

THC must not be puzzled with CBD. Cannabidiol is another particle in marijuana, but it does not have exactly the very same purpose. Although it likewise has a sedative effect, it works against THC to restrict its residential or commercial properties, in particular by calming the nerve system. At a particular rate, CBD makes it possible to delay the results of THC and to increase them tenfold, but by restricting the threats of “bad trip” (anxiety and anxiety often created by the consumption of THC). In other words, composite CBD has no psychotropic results. It does not make “stone”.

CBD: therapeutic residential or commercial properties.

It can be inferred from the above that the distinction between CBD and THC does not lie only in the results produced by the two substances. It generally relates to the repercussions on health. While THC is still thought about a drug (even a moderate one) in most countries, due to its psychedelic results, its tendency to be addictive, and more generally the threats it positions to the body, it is quite the opposite with regard to CBD.

Cannabidiol is stated to have major therapeutic residential or commercial properties. The potential appears massive to say the least. Since CBD would have analgesic and anti-inflammatory residential or commercial properties, would fight anxiety and depression, calm the signs of epilepsy and several sclerosis, act against particular psychotic disorders (such as schizophrenia), etc., to name a few positive results. Some studies even recommend that at high concentrations, CBD acts as an inhibitor in the expansion of tumor cells from particular cancers, which it reduces the threat of necrosis of the arteries after a cardiovascular disease.

Research in this area is just starting, but the prospects are enormous.

Legal CBD, unlawful THC

Another weight distinction between CBD and THC: studies carried out to date tend to show that CBD flavor is not addictive and is not poisonous, unlike THC. For this reason, it is not categorized in the classification of controlled substances, and its sale is authorized in France in the liquid kind, planned for smokeless cigarettes (see on this subject our post on the legality of CBD).

As such, cannabidiol-based products with a THC level of less than 0.2% are authorized for marketing. But there is no question of highlighting the distinctions between CBD and THC, nor of promoting the therapeutic advantages of the former. In France, cannabidiol can not be thought about as a medicine, and must remain what it is formally: a food supplement. But a supplement that does great good for suffering people!
